Only been waiting on this since about May or June.
My squareup card reader, and election day. Can't wait for the elections to be over. May the worst candidates lose. Negative campaigning seems to make it to a lower low every election cycle.
The squareup reader is a neat little device, ships with a square up emblem which is a nice touch. Does not include carrying case, so stuck it in an earbud bag for safe transport.
SquareUp, a startup by Jack Dorsey of twitter fame is now shipping card swipes en masse, just in time for the holiday season. Anyone who has been following the saga, knows what a mountain they have climbed to get to this point. But what a pinnacle it is!
Replace complex point of sale with something simple, replace pen and paper with more efficient record keeping. And start taking credit cards any place you may find yourself. An internet connection is required.
Great for businesses of all sizes. For small businesses it is the easiest way to start taking credit cards, with attractive rates. For big businesses, it is a simple path for "line busting", getting paying customers out of lines and out the door.
Following in the same vein as twitter, the technology simply cannot be made any easier for end users.
1. Plug the card swipe into the audio out (earbud) jack. Be sure to push it all the way down until it clicks in place.
2. The swipe icon appears in the sales window.
3. Enter items sold and a running total accumulates.
4. Choose to use cash or card, in this case card, then swipe the card.
5. Authorization over the internet, very secure end to end, the key to bringing this technology to market.
6. If customer wants a receipt, enter their email address. These email addresses are not tracked or stored anywhere, by design.
7. Email receipt sent straight to customer, thank you message from business vendor, ready for next transaction.
8. Email message sent to vendor with details of transaction, link to online record of account activity.
9. Online account information downloadable in CSV format, the most universal format for spreadsheets, databases, and accounting programs.
